What Is Cupping Therapy (Hijama)?
Cupping Therapy (Hijama), cilt yüzeyine yerleştirilen kupalarla negatif basınç oluşturulması ve yüzeysel çiziklerle az miktarda kan alınması esasına dayanan geleneksel bir uygulamadır. Ülkemizde Geleneksel ve Tamamlayıcı Tıp Uygulamaları kapsamında, yalnızca yetkili hekimlerce yapılabilir.
Single-use, sterile materials are used and medical waste procedures are followed. Dry cupping, without blood, may also be chosen where the physician considers it suitable.
When Is It Considered?
- For people describing muscular tension in the neck, back and lower back
- For people who have had a conventional medical assessment and are seeking complementary support
- Where the physician considers it appropriate, in addition to existing treatment
When it cannot be applied: bleeding disorders, use of blood thinners, advanced anaemia, pregnancy, and skin infection or wounds in the treatment area. An assessment always comes first.
How the Process Works
- Assessment — Your complaint, medication and blood values are reviewed.
- Preparation — The treatment area is decided and your informed consent is taken.
- Procedure and after — The area is dressed afterwards, and rest and aftercare advice is given.
